Be a Nursing Home Volunteer at Gracedale

Gracedale has numerous volunteer opportunities available for people of all ages, and we are always looking for groups or individuals to join us in providing our residents with care, companionship and fun. Volunteering at Gracedale Nursing Home is a rewarding and purposeful endeavor. Not only will you be assisting with much needed services for both our residents and staff, you will also leave each day knowing you truly made a difference.

Adult Volunteers

As an adult volunteer, there are a variety of ways that you can enrich the lives of residents and workers at Gracedale. We are a social, fun group to be a part of, and we’d love it if you joined us.

Individual Opportunities

Gracedale needs volunteers to help residents get where they need to be in a timely manner. When volunteering to transport residents, you will guide them to in-house therapy, appointments in the clinic or beauty beauty shop, or in-person visitation appointments. Everything takes place right here at Gracedale.

There is always something going on at Gracedale to keep our residents busy! As an activity assistant, you help our Therapeutic Recreation staff transport residents to activities, and then help with the actual activity. Popular events include bingo, card tournaments, and crafts.

If you enjoy giving and spending time with others, volunteers can engage in conversation, assist with letter writing, and develop a personal relationship with individuals at Gracedale.

Clerical assistants help with filing, assembling mailers and stuffing envelopes.

In our gift shop, you can assist with sales, stocking and displaying items and other duties.

Share your talent with us. We are always looking on the lookout for people who can provide entertainment and activities for our residents.

Join us on our many outings and help our residents enjoy their day out.

Our volunteers are essential for making our events and parties a success.

Pet therapy volunteers help us bring residents and pets together for some bonding and relaxation.

Group Opportunities

Bring your friends, co-workers or teammates, and a few ideas, or assist with an event we’ve already scheduled.

Your social ministry will fit right in at Gracedale. Residents enjoy both traditional and contemporary services with interaction and music.

Send greeting/birthday cards to residents, visit during special occasions, or consider providing a small gift during the holiday season.

We have several groups who make or donate items for the residents. Why not be the group who delivers these gifts and puts a smile on everyone’s face?

Junior Volunteers

Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2025 program. All applications received will be kept on file for the summer of 2026.

Our Junior Volunteer Program is for school students 14 years old and over. Junior volunteers start at the end of the school year and continue through August. Students will earn community service hours, often needed for graduation, while learning about responsibility, accountability, and time management. Junior Volunteers assist with resident transport, activities, and visit one-to-one with residents. They also help with other tasks as needed, such as distributing donated items to residents or organizing the library. A favorite activity is taking residents outside to enjoy the sunshine in our beautiful Gracedale Gardens.
